Food For Thought Software Solutions was born out of necessity. With the widespread school closure in March 2020 we took part in Nova Scotia’s COVID-19 food initiative pilot project with Click2Order Software Solutions and Aspiring Communities to provide a daily lunch to vulnerable children at home. During this time we realized that there was no software solution that existed to provide logistic and supply chain management to implement provincial wide food programs, we knew that we had to develop a solution.

 

Founded in 2020, Food For Thought Software Solutions offers an all-in-one platform that helps get food into the hands of those who need it, while using safe and efficient practices that prevent the spread of COVID-19. Consisting of a website, online ordering and delivery system it provides logistic and supply chain solutions for online food ordering and delivery — so Canadian children and families can safely and reliably access nutritious food stigma-free. Once the pandemic is declared over, the software will continue to be beneficial as it streamlines these food programs both for the families who need them and the organizations who manage them.

MEET THE CO-FOUNDERS

Mellissa

Melissa MacMaster
CEO

CEO and founder Melissa MacMaster is responsible for leading the development of the company’s short- and long-term strategies. She manages and implements Food For Thought Software Solutions’ mission of keeping vulnerable people fed while ensuring the company maintains high social responsibility wherever it does business.

Melissa’s professional background is diverse. With over 7 years of involvement in Atlantic Canada’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and start-up community, she has been a part of several successful ventures. Notably, she co-founded the Global Youth innovation Network in Benin, West Africa. Their global mission is to create an enabling environment where marginalized youth innovate to overcome poverty, fight hunger and build healthy communities. Her high caliber skill set and experiences has allowed Melissa to hone her skills in client management, allowing her to take a hands-on approach to address the unique needs of each and every Food For Thought Software Solutions clients.

Shandra

Shandra MacMaster
COO

As COO, Shandra MacMaster manages Food For Thought Software Solutions’ operational details by creating procedures and policies, financial control systems, and overseeing human resourcing management. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Francis Xavier University.

Having grown up in an entrepreneurial household, Shandra was inspired to pursue her own business ventures. When her father decided to retire from his Antigonish-based transportation business, Shandra jumped on the opportunity to expand the company by founding Master Driving School and partnering with Click2Order to offer food delivery services to rural areas of Nova Scotia. Shandra’s background in entrepreneurship and her knack for logistics are great assets to Food For Thought Software Solutions.
